Christian
Discoveries was founded by educators and travel professionals
whose goal is to extend education into the worldwide
classroom and provide the best opportunities for learning
through seeing, experiencing and interacting. Learning
through personal experience
takes education to a higher level. Through educational
travel, students use knowledge acquired in the classroom
to analyze the world around them and make a personal
connection by applying their knowledge to their understanding
and view of the future.

Christian Discoveries,
as an affiliate of WorldStrides, was the nation’s
first accredited student travel company exclusively serving
Christian schools. Accreditation
recognizes educational institutions for performance, integrity,
and quality that entitles them to the confidence of the
educational community and the public.
Christian Discoveries recognizes that
all students learn differently – some rely on facts
and data, some are auditory as opposed to visual learners,
some need hands on repetition. For this reason, our programs
use an
integrated learning approach to history education
that can’t be replicated in any other setting.
Several educational tools are available
on our website.
Sites and Snapshots gives students the opportunity
to preview what they will see on their trip, complete with
photos, facts, and web links. The Online
Learning Center offers a unique opportunity
for students to experience, explore, and learn about classroom
subjects interactively, complete with site inforamtion and
quizzes to test knowledge. The Online Learning Center is
available only to students registered to travel on a Christian
Discoveries program. Finally, program participants have
the opportunity to earn one semester elective credit towards
their high school graduation by participating in Christian
Discoveries’
Discovery for Credit
program. Students earn their credit by completing their
trip (of four days or longer) and their online course work,
and this program is available to all grade levels.
Learning through personal experience
In the classroom, students learn the fundamentals of how
a bill becomes a law. When students come to Washington,
D.C., they take learning to a higher level when they walk
through the Capitol and sit in the Congressional or Senate
galleries where our laws are made.
In the classroom, students start to understand
the tragedy of the assassination of an American President.
However, the power of this even becomes “real”
when standing in Ford’s Theater or at Kennedy’s
grave in Arlington National Cemetery.
In the classroom, students learn about
the various military engagements in which our country participated.
Standing in front of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial or looking
into the faces of the soldiers at the Korean Memorial, however,
helps students emotionally understand the difference between
a statistic in a history book and a real human life.
In the classroom, students learn of the
faith of our founding fathers. In D.C., students get to
see the influence faith played in the paintings, inscriptions,
and memorials so prominently displayed in our nation’s
capital.
