California's "City by the
Bay" is rich in history and culture. Prior to the Gold
Rush, San Francisco was just a tiny settlement, but by 1870
it was the 10th largest city in the United States. Bolstered
by immigration, the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad,
and prime location as a port along the Pacific Coast, San
Francisco has grown into a diverse, eclectic city with something
to offer everyone.
