The presses at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing are in operation 24 hours a day in order to keep up with the Federal Reserve's orders for new paper currency. The Bureau also prints postage stamps, military certificates, Treasury notes, and even invitations to the White House. See the presses in action and learn about how our money is made.

  • The life expectancy of a $1 bill is 18 months.
  • $22.5 million in paper currency is printed each day, six days a week, all year long.
